This project is created by designer Susana Martinez, who has been in the fashion and design industries for over 20 years.
As a fashion designer, she has a passion for pattern making, and the ability to make things work. This is strengthened by her fascination, and borderline fixation, with japanese pattern making techniques and aesthetics.
Susana worked as a pattern maker and technical designer in New York City for several fashion brands, both big and small, local and international. Because she loves every minute of her work she puts passion and care into every single design.
2020 was a turning point in everyone’s careers, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Most fashion companies were closed off, so Susana immersed herself into making jewelry out of polymer clay, a medium completely unheard of to her before then. Endless hours of research and an obsessive dedication to the craft led to the creation of hundreds of jewelry pieces that inspired her to start a business.
Susana loves creating and she knew she didn’t have to choose between fashion or jewelry making. She created a land of her own, SusanaLand, to house her jewelry collections, her fashion line, and she will even showcase her mother’s hand woven scarves and shawls. Everything made with love and dedication will have a space here.
